Game Devs

Here is a great opportunity to get your own game in the app store in just days instead of months. I am selling complete game apps based on a game engine I wrote while building a game for myself. I also have the game source code available for licensing if you wish to create your own game or learn how to write an iOS game.

I spent over 8 months creating a game called Jellyblaster, which is now selling in the app store. The idea is to shoot jellyfish as they swim by, using your speargun. Each hit gets a point and you have a time limit to get as many as possible. The highest score gets saved to a local leader board.

While developing this game I created a complete game engine that controls the game play and functions for this type of arcade style shooting game. Variations that can be created with this game engine are limitless, here are just a few that I came up with;

Alienblaster - Shoot aliens as they run around the screen with your laser.

Spaceshipblaster - Shoot invading space ships with your plasma cannon.

Submarineblaster - Drop depth charges on passing submarines.

Ballblaster - Shoot bouncing beach balls with a pea shooter.

Some of the features of the game engine are;

Timed display of a splash screen.

Game play instruction screen.

Programable game timer.

Score keeping.

Target object movement can be random or follow a programmed path.

Gun and projectile movement controlled by tilting the iPhone.

Target and projectile contact detection.

Target contact with other targets or objects detected.

Target movement animation.

Projectile movement animation.

Explosion animations.

Multiple levels of game play.

Level changes controlled by time or score or both.

Local leader board.

High score animations.

Remote leader board on your website.

Sound files activated by multiple events.

Support for Game Center.

Support for Game Kit.

UPDATE: I now have several different game engines available.

The original game engine is for arcade style shooting games. The shooting position is fixed and the targets move around randomly on the playfield which is fixed.

I also have a game engine where the shooter can move around the playfield and mix in with the targets. The  shooter can destroy targets but the targets can also destroy the shooter. Play can be timed or use scores to change levels.

I have also created a side scrolling game engine. The shooter and targets can both move and kill each other. The game may be timed or use preset scores for levels of difficulty.

If you would like to have a game of your own, I will sell you a complete game with original artwork. A ready to go game includes a fully functional game with original artwork, sound effects and background music. The game is royalty free, which means you keep everything that it earns from sales in Apple’s App Store.

If you already have your own art and sounds, then I will license the game source code and engine to you for a single game. Then you or your developer can create a custom game for sale in the App Store.

When you purchase the license you will get a copy of the source code for the game. Your license allows you to modify the code any way you wish. There are no royalty fees. Everything your game earns in the iTunes Store, is yours to keep, after Apple’s cut and taxes of course.

The only constraint is that you cannot sell or license the code to others nor can you use the code to create games for others. That is MY business model. The license allows you to create one game based on the code and sell it in the iTunes store.

You may also buy an unlimited license to create as many games as you wish and sell through Apple’s iTunes App Store.

Here are three options to getting your game built.

The first option is to use your own software developer to create the game using the licensed code and your own artwork, audio and background files. There are sufficient comments in the code to guide your developer in creating your game. I will also provide limited email support to your developer.

Option two, if you are not a developer or don’t have one handy, is to send me your art and audio files. I’ll incorporate your art into the game, compile it and build the App Bundle for you, so you can submit it to the app store. In just a few days you can have a game of your very own in the iTunes store. I charge a flat fee per game to create the App Bundles. You will need your own developer account to track sales and collect your money.

If you would like a turn-key game that you just submit to the iTunes Store, and then set your price and wait for the checks to roll in, then this third option is for you. I will create the entire game, complete with original artwork, audio and backgrounds that you approve. I will compile it and create the App Bundle that you can submit to iTunes. You will still need your own developer account to collect your money.

If you need some custom game features or modifications to the code written, I am available on an hourly basis at consulting rates.

I will also provide fixes for any bugs you or your customers discover. The fixes will be taken care of within a reasonable time and free of charge. Minor revisions with improvements to the game engine will also be free of charge.

Major revisions with new features will be made available for a modest fee.

If you have never sold an iPhone app in Apple’s iTunes store, the process is very simple.

First you register to become an iPhone developer. This is free and just requires you to fill out an online form at http://developer.apple.com. This will get you an Apple Developer ID and allows you to download and work with the Xcode development environment and the iPhone Software Developers Kit.

Second you will need to join the Apple Developer program. This costs $99 per year and allows you to put iPhone apps in the iTunes Store and sell them.

Now all you need is an app to put in the store. There are a couple of ways to do this.

You can learn Objective C and use the iPhone SDK to write an app yourself. Depending on whether you are already a programmer this could take a few months to a few years.

Or you can hire a developer to write an app for you. Most contract developers will write an app for an average of around $75 per hour and take from a few months to a year or more to complete.

But the best option is to buy an iPhone game app from me. It will save you time and money. You can have a great game available for sale in the iTunes store in a very short time earning you revenue. You just do the marketing and customer support.

The game engine pricing is as follows;

A game engine license for a single game, which includes the source code is $2500.

A finished game with original art and audio is $5000 and includes a license for the game engine and the source code.

I am available to work on your custom game at $75 per hour.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss features and capabilities of the game, just email me.
